When an educator and an entrepreneur collude, construe, and collaborate, the creation is a colorful cartoon series "Giovanni" which makes its proud debut this month in the Middleburg Eccentric.

Giovanni is a struggling Renaissance artist and owner of "Joan of Art Custom Framing and Art Studio" in Florence. Her employee is a wise-cracking, song singing gargoyle, Goya. To make ends meet, Giovanni boards and teaches students with a full time prepubescent protégé, Sardo. Giovanni rents space to other budding artists, such as Raphael, and receives a Vatican grant from her patron, Pope Sicola. Other charming characters appear sporadically.

Gina and Lynn Marie Hilleary, creators of "Giovanni" take a tongue in cheek approach with their cartoon series faceting their own lives: a large interacting family, 'growing up Catholic', the trials and tribulations of life. The two sisters hope to be picked up for syndication making cartooning their second, but stress free mid-life profession with a line of greeting cards are already in production.

Gina is an owner of Joan of Art Custom Framing in Middleburg and Marshall. Lynn Marie is a master teacher in a nearby public school system.
