Wisdom Gallery
Wow! Oh my! I've never seen so many unusual things in one place.
These are some of the comments heard in the Wisdom Gallery on South Madison Street in Middleburg. The store's owner, Pauline Wisdom, just celebrated the store's 15th anniversary. She knows where everything is, which is a good thing for people needing everything from chocolates to home furnishings, to wedding invitations.
"We're kind of like a department store," says Pauline in her charming British accent, "with a little bit of everything." Besides fine chocolates and a selection of greeting cards, the store specializes in personalized stationary and wedding invitations - people trust the gallery to help choose just the right words for their occasion. Horse people can find a wide selection of horse-related stationary and cards.
The Wisdom Gallery offers home furnishings like paintings, lamps, imported decorative pieces, ceramics, Blenko glass, antique furniture, and a vast selection of silk flowers. Chandeliers, marionettes, dolls, and figurines sit next to cast aluminum wine coolers by Arthur Court. Elizabeth Arden cosmetics and fragrances fill the checkout counter. There are candles, crystal, and needlepoint, hand-painted, and tapestry pillows.
"People just have to come in and see for themselves." laughs Pauline Wisdom. "I tell my customers, If you can't find it, just ask; it's here somewhere."
