Leaking Pipes and Dissatisfied Water Customers

· From pages 5 of the print edition

The November session of the Middleburg town council was presented with further illustration of the town's water woes by Herndon residents Bradford and Lurleen Coleman, addressing the council on behalf of longtime Middleburg residents Reverend Theodore and Lenora Haley.

Lurleen Coleman, the Haleys' daughter, showed the council Middleburg water bills charging Rev. and Mrs. Haley with water use fees in excess of $300 a quarter. According to Town Administrator Casey, this far exceeds average water use for two people, especially in the case of the Haleys, who are both senior citizens.

The Colemans brought their problem to the council in the hopes of having town representatives personally look into the problem, which could be caused by leaks or pipe corrosion problems. "I think it most definitely helped. I think it helped open up some eyes. The water bills are just getting out of hand," said Lurleen Coleman.
