Citizens for Catoctin County to Meet in Middleburg

· From pages 9 of the print edition

Citizens for Catoctin County, in the second of a series of informational meetings for Western Loudoun citizens, invites residents to a discuss the formation of a new county at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Middleburg Community Center, 300 Washington St. (business Route 50).

At the meeting CCC leaders will discuss the progress of the effort, including reports from committee chairmen studying economic feasibility, boundaries, legal and legislative issues, volunteering, and fundraising efforts. This is an opportunity for Western Loudoun's citizens to become informed about this movement.

Citizens for Catoctin County is a citizens' organization that is exploring the viability of creating a new county from the western portion of Loudoun County. If successful, it would be the first new county created in Virginia since the late 1880s. The organization counts more than a hundred members and is growing weekly. "At each of our meetings we've seen more than a dozen new faces, while our website is receiving numerous hits each day," said Meissner.
