Middleburg Brings New Water Treatment Plant Online
Middleburg has more than doubled its capacity to provide water to customers and significantly improved the quality of the water with the addition of Well No. 4 and the completion of the Town's first full service Water Treatment Plant.
Prior to March of this year, the Town was using two wells; Well No. 2, which has produced a high quality product since it first went on-line in 1971, and Well No. 3, which could only be used when its water was mixed with that from Well No. 2. (Well No. 1 was taken off-line more than 15 years ago due to its poor water quality.)
Water from Well No. 4 is now treated to remove manganese and other minerals as well as reduce its "hardness", providing a product which is less corrosive on the system's pipes as well as the lines providing water directly to your home or business. (Well No. 3 has been taken off-line and will probably not be used until it is needed at some point in the future and its water can be treated through the new Water Treatment Plant.)
These improvements, together with a continuing program to replace the oldest and most troublesome pipes, offer the opportunity to move closer to the level of service you, our customers, have a right to expect.
