Banneker Elementary School is hosting its second reunion. This reunion is for students and staff who were at Banneker between 1968-1978. Last year, the reunion was held to celebrate the first twenty years of Banneker's history. Banneker Elementary is the only existing original African American school still operating in Loudoun County as an elementary school. Integration took place in 1968. A third reunion is planned in 2008 to bring together all students and staff from the past sixty years.

The Banneker Reunion Committee is asking for your help in locating students and staff who were at Banneker during these years. A day to celebrate the rich heritage of the school and the "coming together" of the community has been set for Saturday May 6, 2006, 5-7pm at the school. If you know of someone who attended or worked at Banneker during these years, please help us as we seek to find alumni and staff to join us in the celebration.

If you need more information, or would like to provide contact information for someone you know, please email the Reunion Committee at bes@loudoun.k12.va.us or call 703-771-6780.
