More Help for Middleburg's Elderly Residents

· From pages 6 of the print edition

The Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Atlanta has just announced that it will accept the grant request submitted by Reggie Dawson of the Middleburg Bank and will provide $400,000 towards the construction of a new 20-unit apartment building for low-income elderly residents in Middleburg, sponsored by the Windy Hill Foundation.

"The Middleburg Bank is a member of the Atlanta Region of the FHLB," explained Reggie Dawson. "It is wonderful that our participation in the bank can help bring home some resources to meet our local housing needs."

The Federal Home Loan Bank has an Affordable Housing Program (AHB) that provides millions of dollars every year to support the construction of affordable housing in the hometowns of member banks. The program is highly competitive. This was the Bank's second application to the program but the first time they have won.

The Windy Hill Foundation is in the midst of a major capital campaign to fund construction of the new elderly housing project. If sufficient funding can be raised, the project is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of this year.
