Newest Cum Laude Members Announced

· From pages 20, 21 of the print edition

Ten Foxcroft School students and one teacher have been elected to the School's chapter of the Cum Laude Society, chapter chair Susan Erba announced today. The Cum Laude Society is a national high school scholastic honor society modeled on the collegiate Phi Beta Kappa. There are more than 335 chapters across the United States; the Foxcroft chapter was established in 1958. Students who evidence a genuine interest in the pursuit of knowledge by their superior academic record as reflected in their course load, grade point average and other factors, are selected to the group.

Foxcroft's newly-elected students are: Nicole Baudouin (Mexico City, Mexico), Jillian Cairns (Chantilly, Va.), Adela Griswald (Middleburg, Va.), Caroline Haeberle (Ashland, Ky.), Sarah Hinton (Reston, Va.), Lindsay Jennings (Ashburn, Va.), Amber Ogbolu (Ashland, Ky.) Betsy Reid (Woodberry Forest, Va.), My Tran (Annandale, Va. And Viet Nam) and Shannon Walker (Purcellville, Va.). All the students are seniors at Foxcroft, except for Cairns and Walker, who have the special distinction of being selected as juniors.

Second-year teacher Glenn Kantz became the newest faculty member of the Foxcroft chapter to the society. Kantz, a native of Nashville, Tenn., and graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, teaches English and Latin at Foxcroft. He earned Cum Laude membership in high school.

The electees will be officially inducted into the Cum Laude Society at Foxcroft's Commencement in May. Clara Bertozzi-Villa, who was elected last year as a junior, and faculty members Mary Louise Leipheimer (Head of School), Stacey Morse Ahner (Director of Development), Celeste Bergan (Science Dept. Chair), Susan Erba (Math Dept.), Steve Matthews (English; Library) and Alex Northrup (History, Foreign Languages, Library) will do the honors.
