Middleburg enjoys steady, often critical support from many heroic, generous citizens.

So, it came as no surprise, but as a well deserved honor, when Windy Hill Foundation recently announced they would name their new 20-unit apartment complex for elderly residents for John Levis.

John Levis was a long-time friend of our community who quietly provided support for many important projects and people in need. He set standards for citizenship from which we all benefited, and he departed so quietly that without the graciousness of the Windy Hill Foundation future beneficiaries of his goodwill might never know his name.

We should never forget the individuals who step forward when important initiatives need the sustenance of caring citizens.

John Levis deserves this fitting memorial, and the gratitude of citizens everywhere in our area. He understood citizenship and took his responsibility to community seriously.
