Middleburg's New Parking Policy
On Saturday, April 22nd, two meter zones will go into effect in the Central Business District. The first, a two hour zone, includes Madison Street and Washington Street between Liberty Street and The Plains Road. Meters here will cost 50 cents per hour and can be "fed" for two hours at a time. The second, an eight hour zone, includes the two municipal parking lots, the western and eastern ends of Washington and all other on-street metered parking in Town. Meters here will continue to cost 25 cents per hour and can be "fed" for up to eight hours at one time.
Time restrictions on parking are intended to maximize the turnover of the most convenient and, therefore, the most valuable spaces. Those planning a longer stay, will have eight hour options in town or may choose to return to the meter to add additional time, a common practice in many downtown settings.
The new Liberty Street Parking Lot is available and under utilized. The lot may be used by merchants and employees as well as business customers. It is located within a block and one-half of the traffic signals at Washington and Madison Streets. Parking spaces on both ends of town are also generally under utilized. And best of all, they are either unmetered or cost only 25 cents per hour and can be "fed" once for an entire eight hours.
