Council member Helen Hyre announced on Monday, May 8th, that she would give up her seat on the Council in September, citing personal and health reasons. Hyre told the Council, at an early-week work session, that she wanted the new council to appoint her replacement and that she would delay her formal resignation to give the new members enough time to "be up to speed" before leaving her post.

The new Mayor and council members will be sworn in late June.
