Local Farmer Goes Retail
As word of mouth continues to increase demand for premium, all natural lamb, so does the Childs family's desire to meet their clients' needs head on. For 25 years the Childs family has been raising sheep in Clarke County, Virginia. They have experienced continued success selling champion market lambs to 4-H youth and breeding stock throughout the nation. But one growing area that continues to have customers coming back for more is their sale of freezer lamb. Due to demand, they have expanded their operation to include retail sales of individual lamb cuts and lamb sausage products under the new Virginia LambTM label. Many of their products (Italian grillers, kielbasa sausage, pepperoni, salami, etc.) are unique to lamb meat. And although customers are at first curious, they return with growing excitement for new and tasty products.
Virginia LambTM is dedicated to offering premium, gourmet quality lamb full of flavor, tenderness and wholesomeness. Their locally raised lamb is free of hormones, steroids, and subtherapeutic antibiotics. With more and more consumers wanting to know exactly how their food is raised and where it comes from, Virginia LambTM is bridging the gap between the pasture and the plate. Humanely raised livestock is not new to the small farmer, it's a way of life for the Childs' and a symbolic balance between man and nature.
