Antique Appraisal Day
Mosby Heritage, Sloans & Kenyon Participate
Mosby Heritage Area Association in partnership with Sloans and Kenyon Auctioneers and Appraisers will be holding their second annual Appraisal Day at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Parish House in Middleburg on Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
A team of expert appraisers will be on hand to help you solve the mystery of that interesting item you inherited or couldn't leave the flea market without. Specialists in paintings, decorative arts, silver, books, porcelain, jewelry, Civil War Relics, Americana, etc. will be on hand to answer your questions.
There was a wide variety of treasures appraised last year including a silk 12-starred hand-woven American flag valued at $50,000, a quartz-like stone that turned out to be a diamond in the rough, value $15,000, a collection of autographed baseballs and a campaign chest from the CSA that had been thoughtfully handed down through generations. All in all, over 180 items were appraised and everyone involved found the day to be a very learning experience.
Need to pare down? Clear out the attic? Empty that closet? Sloans and Kenyon will not only advise you of the value of your treasure but may be able to include it in one of their future auction sales.
The proceeds from the $25 per item appraisal fee will go toward The MHAA educational programs that endeavor to raise the awareness of the cultural, historic and scenic resources of our area. With growing awareness we hope to pass along the commitment and resolve to preserve this unrivaled but threatened heritage area.
