Tucked away under a bower of trees is "Clothes Minded," a new Middleburg boutique that offers discerning shoppers sophisticated styles that make sense for women who want to look chic while at work or at play with their children.

Walk into Katie Rowand's cottage shop on North Liberty Street and you've arrived in an airy, pastel world of subtle sophistication that is welcoming and feminine.

"I enjoy getting to know my customers," she emphasized. "I'm the mother of a two-year-old, so I need to be able to chase my daughter around without ripping the seams out of my clothes, but I didn't want to lose my sense of style."

Katie insists that she will not let her customers leave with anything that doesn't look "amazing," and she is delighted to make private appointments after 5 p.m. for customers who simply cannot shop during the day.

"I want women to leave my shop feeling sexy, confident and comfortable."
