The Art of Pineda Bueno to Middleburg

· From pages 7, 8 of the print edition

Beginning Friday, November 10 and running through Sunday November 12, 2006, Trowbridge-Lewis Galleries will be hosting the renowned Spanish artist Jose Antonio Pineda Bueno in his American debut.

In continuing our practice of bringing our collectors and friends the opportunity to view the works of exceptional artists, and to have the opportunity to meet them, we are hosting Pineda Bueno, who works include figurative, landscapes and still-life paintings. Many of his pieces feature images of women based on his daughter Maria Teresa and blend their images with their surroundings, framing them in his paintings, with rocks, soil, sea, color and light.

While the gallery usually contains art by working artists, each year we bring a Master's show to the gallery. This year we had almost $2 million worth of breathtaking fine impressionist and post impressionist pieces gathered from sources thought the country. The show featured art by Edouard Cortes, four members of the Pissarro family; Paul-Emile, his son H. Claude, Claude's wife Katia and Paul's brother George Manzano Pissarro. In addition, there were pieces by Galien Laloue whose beautiful gouaches fascinated everyone and the star of the show a still life by Louis-Andre Valtat that was featured as the catalogue cover for Sotheby's London auction of impressionist art this past July.

"While the gallery's main focus is contemporary art - - that is art by living artists - - it's always a treat to view the works of the true master's and to see how today's artists are influenced by them," said Adrienne Lewis co-owner of the gallery. "And, it's also important for collectors to know that the gallery has access to work of this quality."

As we continue into our second year we are already planning our next year's shows. The Pineda Bueno show will open at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 10th. Receptions will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:30 PM and Saturday 6:00-8:30 PM as part of the "2nd Saturday, Art in The Village" events in town.

The show will conclude on Sunday, November 12, at 6:00 PM.
