· From pages 22, 23 of the print edition

On April 28, 2008, Mr. Peter Quinn, Headmaster, Wakefield School, announced the school had hired a new Head of the Middle School to begin on July 1, 2008. Describing him as "energetic and experienced", Mr. Quinn expressed that "Mr. Roddy's calm, detail-oriented approach will serve Wakefield well. He was the clear first choice of Wakefield personnel who met the finalists."

In a letter sent to parents, Mr. Quinn stated, "Mr. Troy Roddy is currently the head of school at St. John Berchmans School (k-8) in Louisiana. He started his teaching and coaching career in 1993 and served as Dean of Students at St. Martin Episcopal School in 2000. He was hired as St. John Berchmans' first headmaster in 2006."

"Mr. Roddy has earned the respect and appreciation of his colleagues for his 'notable resilience in the face of the demands of his job,' and for never failing 'in his effort to do the right (rather than the popular) thing…Troy sets very high standards for himself in every aspect of his personal and professional life; he would continue to thrive in a school of similar high standards.' His colleagues related to me that he has made a 'tremendous contribution and his thoughtful and reflective approach' to school issues were appreciated."

A graduate of Rhodes College, Mr. Roddy also holds two master's degrees from the University of New Orleans, and will complete his PhD there this spring. During his career so far Mr. Roddy has taught civics, sociology, psychology, economics, accounting, and history. He has also coached baseball, cross country, basketball, and football.
