The McGhee Foundation and The Community Music School of the Piedmont Award
The McGhee Foundation and The Community Music School of the Piedmont would like to congratulate Maggie Collins, winner of the 1st Annual McGhee Foundation Music Scholarship.
Miss Collins studies viola at the Community Music School of the Piedmont and attends ninth grade at Fauquier High School. She lives in Upperville, VA.
"Music is a great passion of mine. I have all hope that I will one day play with great people," says Maggie, who performs with the Fauquier High School Chamber Orchestra, the Shenandoah Valley Youth Orchestra and the Shenandoah Valley Chamber Orchestra.
"We are proud to support the education of our young local musicians," says Richard Berger, Executive Director of The McGhee Foundation. The philanthropic organization is headquartered at Farmer's Delight Plantation in Middleburg, VA.
Students between the ages of 10 and 18 with at least one year of private music instruction were eligible to apply for the scholarship, which will cover tuition for one semester's worth of private lessons at CMSP. Candidates submitted a 500-word essay highlighting the role of music in their lives and why they considered musical study to be an important and valuable activity.
With locations in Loudoun, Fauquier and Clarke counties, The Community Music School of the Piedmont is currently celebrating 15 years of providing high quality music instruction and performance opportunities to the Piedmont community.
