Martin Driscoll Exhibit

· From pages 19 of the print edition

On October 17th, Martin Driscoll will be on hand at Trowbridge-Lewis Galleries to talk about his evocative paintings and the stories behind them. Driscoll's paintings are stories without words, stories of Ireland and her people, stories of the artist's own family and heritage. According to Adrienne Lewis, owner of the Middleburg gallery, Driscoll's visit to Middleburg will provide "a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in Marty's work to spend some time with him and get to know the man behind the paintings."

Driscoll paints scenes of pastoral Ireland in his studio in Wimberley, Texas, where he lives with his wife Judith. "All of my paintings of Ireland, be it a cityscape, landscape, or seascape have people in them. It's those people that I want to capture and remember. I want others who see my paintings to feel that there is a story that they are witnessing. I love stories and if I were a gifted writer, I would write stories. I am not a gifted writer, so I tell the story, the best way that I can."

Adrienne Lewis met Driscoll when he exhibited at New York Art Expo in 2005. "I was not surprised that he sold nearly every piece he brought to the show. I didn't have a gallery at the time, but I bought three!"

Driscoll began exhibiting his work at Trowbridge-Lewis Galleries in the spring of 2005, when the gallery opened. "Marty's work was immediately coveted by our customers, and today he is one of the gallery's most popular artists."

You can view the works of Martin Driscoll, and meet the artist on Saturday, October 17th at Trowbridge-Lewis Galleries located at 5 East Washington Street in Middleburg. For more information, contact the gallery at 540-687-6653 or visit the web site at www.t-lgalleries.com.
