Mercer Middle School's Odyssey of the Mind team placed 4th at the 2010 Odyssey of the Mind World Competition at Michigan State University, May 26th through the 29th. Their solution to the problem, "Return to the Gift of Flight", along with placing first in the Spontaneous problem competition, earned them this honor, soaring above the competition from countries such as Germany, Korea and Hong Kong, and many teams throughout the United States.

They also received an OMER Award, a recognition for sportsmanship and helping others. This team of (from left to right) Sean Hernley, Michaela Miller, Catie Hutchison, Will Kirwan, Savannah Olson, Elizabeth Donovan and Ellie Hill were only one of three teams given this award out of the hundreds of teams participating in this international competition.
