GOP Sweep

· By Ken Rietz · From pages 8 of the print edition

At this writing, most pundits are predicting big gains in the House and Senate for the GOP. Based on news reports and conversations, with two weeks left before the election, here is what some political prognosticators are saying.

Former Democrat pollster and political consultant, Dick Morris, predicts the huge wave of voter discontent will win the GOP control of the House with 60 to 70 seats going to the Republicans. He thinks 8 Senate seats are locked up for the GOP. Winning Nevada will give the GOP 9. Then, according to Morris, they need to win one of these 4 – Washington, California, New York or Connecticut to seize control of the Senate.

The highly respected Cook Political Report projects 7 to 9 Senate seats for the GOP. It projects a takeover of the House by the GOP calling more than 90 seats are up for grabs, 80 of them presently held by Democrats and only 10 by Republicans.

University of Virginia's Larry Sabato has the GOP winning 8 to 9 Senate seats and 47 House seats.

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich, projects Republican gains of more than 60 House seats and thinks the wave may win the GOP control of the Senate.

Election Law attorney and Fox News contributor, Jan Baran, projects 7 Senate and 53 House seats for the GOP.

Former Presidential candidate, Pat Buchanan, thinks the GOP will win 46 to 47 House seats but will not win enough Senate seats to take control.

Political insider, Paul Dietrich, projects the GOP picking up 8 Senate seats and 61 seats in the House.

Last week Vice-President, Joe Biden, tried to explain why Democrats are not building their campaigns around the Stimulus, Obamacare and Financial Reform. He said they were "Just too hard to explain". This is the kind of Washington arrogance voters are mad about.

A new Wall Street Journal-NBC poll shows 69% of voters want to have someone new representing them in Washington. I believe voter anger with Washington and Tea party motivation will sweep 65 to 70 new Republicans into the House. It will elect 10 to 11 new Republican Senators with the GOP winning both California and Washington. AND, AT LAST, GOOD BYE HARRY REID.
