At the same October 14 work session Council, without opposition, denied a long-standing request for a special use permit to allow professional offices on first floor of the building at 2 West Washington Street.

Town Planner and Zoning Administrator, David Beniamino, noted that the request, submitted by Autumn McCullogh on behalf of Middleburg Property Management, LLC, essentially negated zoning ordinance requirements that allow for no office uses on a first floor.

The Town's Planning Commission, he said, had recommended denial of the permit on the grounds that it was in conflict with the Town's goal of eliminating first floor offices in Middleburg's main commercial district, in order to encourage and promote retail traffic.
