Need for Elementary School Tutors
The Windy Hill Foundation in partnership with the Middleburg Elementary School Parent Teachers Organization sponsors a one-to-one tutoring program for academically at-risk students at the Middleburg Elementary School. The program, known as the Study Buddy Program, utilizes adults from within the Middleburg, Upperville, and surrounding areas to serve as tutors. The tutors assist students with remedial reading, elementary math, and homework. The program began in 2004 and has been very successful in helping those students in need of assistance.
Tutoring is done on Monday and Thursday of each week from 2:45 – 4:00 p.m. at the school. Tutors may commit to assisting on one or both days. Persons may also offer their time as a substitute tutor as needed.
Anyone interested in becoming a Study Buddy for a Middleburg Elementary School student should contact the program's coordinator: Pat Heimgartner.
Pat can be reached by phone at (540) 363-0323 or by email at patheimgartner@yahoo.com.
