Art Show Featuring Tom Neel

· From pages 6, 7 of the print edition

The Art Institute of Washington – Northern Virginia hosts a solo show featuring renowned local landscape artist, Tom Neel.

The show will run from July 21 through August 28 with a portion of the proceeds going to The Education Foundation benefiting student education.

The fundraising event provides an opportunity to purchase some of Mr. Neel's art work known for preserving the Piedmont region of Virginia through his landscape paintings. For well over 20 years the self-taught artist has created paintings, becoming one of the area's most commissioned and best known landscape painters. His work can be found in private and corporate collections extensively here, nationally from coast to coast and in many parts of Europe. It is rare for a collector to have just one of his paintings and nearly half of the paintings Neel creates are done as a special order - commissioned work of art.

Mr. Neel is a firm believer in giving back and is very generous with his donations. A portion of the proceeds of this fundraising event will benefit The Education Foundation which is a non-profit tax-exempt foundation. The Foundation provides scholarships to students who attend Education Management Corporation owned schools. The Art Institute is America's Leader in Creative Education, providing an important source for design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts professionals.

"We are honored and delighted to have Tom Neel's work in our gallery – our students are looking forward to this show. We are very touched by his generosity toward the foundation which funds scholarships for many of our students," says Gregg Crowe, president of The Art Institute of Washington – Northern Virginia.
