Traffic at Pendleton and Marshall
Panebianco noted that he had heard "a lot of comment about the new stop signs at the intersection of Pendleton and Marshall Streets" including the misperception that their installation was the result of a "Salamander issue"
Not true, Panebianco reported.
His officers conducted a survey of traffic at the intersection and found that "the majority of the motorists who were running the stop sign were northbound turning right or left."
In response, the Town has painted stop bars at the intersection, painted the word "stop" on the pavement, and is looking at the possibility of clearing hedges to provide better lines of sight.
Panebianco also noted that the Town had requested the intersection be made a four-way stop; however, but that VDOT had rejected the application. Reiterating that scofflaws at the stop signs were not a Salamander issue, Panebiance reported that, nevertheless, the Resort had promised to install signs before Thanksgiving warning motorists of the approaching stop sign.
