A Place To Be - Where Music Meets Therapy
Our doors opened October 2010 with approximately 25 clients who would show up for Music Therapy and Counseling. Now, five years later, A Place To Be provides services for over 200 families each week. We are based in Middleburg, Virginia and have satellite hubs at Paxton Campus in Leesburg, INOVA Loudoun Hospital, with contracts in Loudoun and Fairfax County.
To date, our signature touring production, The Same Sky Project, has been viewed by over 15,000 students and community members and is expected to total over 25,000 this coming year! Our highly qualified professional staff has expanded to 6 full-time and 9 part-time employees who make A Place To Be and our successful Individual Sessions, Social Groups, Recitals, and Summer Camps run smoothly every day. Our Board of Directors work endlessly to support our staff and create infrastructure for a sustaining, vibrant and inspiring business.
We keep all of our services affordable and offer financial aid for those that need support. We are presently becoming the leading center for Performance-Based Music Therapy in the country and beyond. This fall we will be the Keynote performance at the National American Music Therapy Association. High Notes, a documentary about A Place To Be and its work with Forrest Allen along with other clients, is slated to arrive in theaters in 2016.
All in all, it's been a busy and deeply rewarding 5 years thanks to the welcoming arms of the community and the amazing donors and volunteers that help A Place To Be to be a place where people feel safe, inspired and able to be loved!
