Writing to express appreciation for Mr. Engberg's columns on water issues. I'm no expert, but I agree with him that our groundwater resources are being depleted at an alarming rate, perhaps none more significant than the Ogallala Aquifer in the high plains region. As a retired engineer and erstwhile farm kid, I have a great appreciation for water issues as they relate to our food supply and have wondered for years why it is that our ground water resources don't receive the serious attention they deserve in our national politics. Please pass along my note to Mr. Engberg.
