Piedmont Community Foundation Names Executive Director

· From pages 6 of the print edition

JUDI CAMPBELL, a former executive with Xerox, IBM and Cornell University has been named the first Executive Director of the Piedmont Community Foundation (PCF). Campbell has a clear understanding of her mission as she steps into the leadership role for the Foundation.

"My primary goal as Executive Director is to build public awareness about the Piedmont Community Foundation so that PCF will be the organization donors, recipients and volunteers think of when they want to make a difference in Loudoun County and the surrounding community."

The Foundation, a Loudoun County based nonprofit public entity, is dedicated to building a permanent reservoir of charitable funds to support the preservation and enhancement of the community. PCF will maximize the beneficial impact of each gift and thus enable each donor, regardless of means, to be an effective supporter of charitable causes.

PCF administers a variety of funds to support community causes in Loudoun County and the surrounding Piedmont Region. Among those causes are the Fresh/Air/Full Care Fund, Very Special Arts of Loudoun County, the Middleburg Community Center and the Ashburn Library.

Fresh air/Full Care (FAFC) seeks donations to help children from low-income working families to attend registered childcare and summer camp programs in partnership with the Loudoun County Department of Social Services (DSS). Fresh Air/Full Care has made it possible for seventy-eight children to benefit from the 2003 summer camp program and, because of program support, approximately twenty additional families have been able to send their children to registered childcare so far this year.

Judi Campbell says, "Momentum is growing as the region's neighborhood communities see the need to take action to improve and maintain the quality of life that originally attracted them to Loudoun County. Creating a safe environment for children, helping to integrate the county's diverse communities, providing opportunities for the less fortunate among us, preserving our environment and communities are some of the causes that we all care about. Piedmont Community Foundation brings the strength of an established community foundation to enable contributors to support the causes they care about without having to create a structure to make it happen.
