Independence Air CEO Chairs Loudoun Healthcare Capital Campaign

· From pages 5 of the print edition

While announcing more than $5 million in cash and pledges already raised to date, Kerry Skeen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the new low-fare airline, Independence Air, recently accepted the chairmanship of this year's Loudoun Healthcare Capital Campaign.

An active member of the Loudoun Healthcare Board, Skeen kicked off the public phase of what's been termed the "Journey to Greatness" capital campaign with Loudoun Healthcare President and CEO Rodney Huebbers at his side. Flanked by a dedicated group of local Independence Air and Loudoun Healthcare employees on the tarmac of Washington Dulles International Airport, with a new FLYi jet as a backdrop, Skeen also announced that Independence Air is pledging 10 pairs of tickets per quarter for the current Fiscal Year (July 1, 2004 – June 30, 2005) to be awarded to charitable supporters of Loudoun Healthcare Foundation's efforts to fund healthcare expansion.

David Goldberg, Vice President for Development and Executive Director of the Loudoun Healthcare Foundation, praised the energy and commitment Mr. Skeen brings to the campaign. "Kerry generates excitement and energy in every endeavor he undertakes," observes Goldberg. "He has served on our Board of Directors for nearly 3 years, knows the health care quality and accessibility we provide Loudoun County, and has stepped forward with Foundation Board of Trustees to lead us in the expansion of services such as cardiac, cancer and women's services. We are grateful for his vision and enthusiasm."
