To the Editor:

What a shame that ugly racism has been introduced into the dispute over the scope of Salamander Inn. Whether the awful note you received was from a misguided opponent of Mrs Johnson's plans, or an equally misguided supporter attempting to discredit her opponents, the issue obscures the real issues of environmental protection, land use and types of desired local development. Let us all hope that all involved will ignore this nasty provocation and continue to discuss and argue this important issue as rational, well intentioned persons.
