Vintage and Vine Gala Raises Over $170,000: Family Collects Vintage Fashions for Hospital Fundraiser

· From pages 9 of the print edition

Loudoun Healthcare Foundation's 2005 Vintage and Vine gala was a great success, raising over $170, 000 to help support cancer care and surgical services. The fundraiser was held at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Va. in honor of Mary Elizabeth Miller, where 500 guests admired mini-vignette plays and fashions from the 1940s through the 1970s.

"I know Beth (Miller) would be proud of the vision, execution and leadership her children and friends showed by organizing such a dynamic event," said David Goldberg, Loudoun Healthcare Foundation's vice president of development and planning.

Beth Miller's children, Amanda Miller, Amy Burns, Allyson Ruscitella and Jay Miller, spearheaded the planning of Vintage and Vine, as well as collected the vintage fashions. The family was driven about this event because the proceeds benefited cancer care.

"We did this not only to honor our mother but to raise money for cancer prevention," says Amy Burns. "If we can bring awareness to this terrible illness that rips families apart, then we'll be satisfied."
