Arbor Day Celebrated

· From pages 2 of the print edition

The 2007 Arbor Day Celebration was held on Saturday, April 21 on South Pendleton Street. Middleburg has, for the sixth year, been named a Tree City USA by The National Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to its community forest. Bret Robinson, Virginia Department of Forestry, presentated the award to Mayor Betsy Davis as part of the Arbor Day Celebration.

This year's celebration includes the kick off of Middleburg Beautification and Preservation, Inc.'s South Pendleton Street Connector Project. The project is designed to complete the effort initiated by The Hill School and the Town of Middleburg several years ago to link the school community to the town and provide pedestrian access to the campus walking trails.

Mayor Davis presented awards to this year's Arbor Day Poster Contest Winners. The theme for the contest was "Our Roots Are Here in Loudoun" and over 180 kindergarten through sixth grade students from Middleburg Elementary and The Hill School participated.
