Physicians will return to Inova Loudoun's Leesburg campus as part of a major upgrade and expansion. Rod Williams, chief operating officer for Inova Loudoun Medical Campus in Leesburg, described the expansion plans as the hospital's response to growing patient volume and the need for better access to care for western Loudoun County residents.

Phase one of the plans, slated for completion by the summer of 2009, includes a 4,000 square foot addition for a new emergency department that will feature private treatment bays. Phase one also includes new and expanded space for the laboratory and diagnostic imaging to keep pace with the growing need for outpatient services and to improve efficiency for emergency department patients. The first phase also proposes a twenty-bed acute rehabilitation center.

"The plans we have for Inova Loudoun Medical Campus in Leesburg is a giant step toward providing quality care close to home," said Williams. "With existing vibrant and growing service lines currently provided at the Leesburg Campus, the new medical office building on schedule to open by June 2008 and this new development plan, Inova continues to deliver on promises made to ensure equal access to health care for all the citizens of Loudoun County."

Phase two of the expansion plans is dependent on population growth and demand for services. The second phase plans include a 45,000 square foot ambulatory care center.

"This plan goes a long way to address the lack of access to care for western Loudoun County," said Inova Loudoun Hospital's Chief Executive Officer Randy Kelley. "This project is one of many to come that strategically follow the Countywide Comprehensive Health Care Facility Plan and continues our commitment to provide quality, not-for-profit heath care to Loudoun County."
