Local "Four Seasons" Gardener Featured in "Garden Ideas & Outdoor Living"

· From pages 6 of the print edition

Linda Hostetler's beautiful garden in The Plains receives much-deserved coverage in the Early Spring issue of Garden Ideas & Outdoor Living that is now on newsstands everywhere. "It's lovely to see my garden in the magazine," Linda said. "I've so enjoyed creating it, and it pleases me to know that others will also enjoy seeing my plant collection."

Originally, a graphic designer, Linda became a plant collector as she worked with Karen Rexrode on a catalogue for the Windy Hill Plant Farm. Karen, who owned the famous and favorite haunt of serious gardeners from every corner of Northern Virginia, imparted immense gardening wisdom as the two organized the catalogue. "That's where I learned about plants," Linda said. "Now, I'm a "Four Seasons" garden consultant specializing in color vignettes that include foliage as well as blooms. My new career is a true joy."

As Editor Luke Miller said, "Linda has created a garden that is beautiful year round, and that is no small accomplishment." It only takes leafing through the ten-page article to understand what a "Four Seasons" garden consultant can achieve. Whether you dream of a colorful early spring garden that does not depend uniquely on bulbs, or a winter garden that is a pleasure to the eye and imagination, Linda's approach to gardening will make excellent sense. The article describes her "color Echo" technique, how she creates off-season appeal, her love of new plants and a few of her "secrets."
