Robert (Bobby) Morgan Downing passed away in his home in Middleburg, Virginia on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer. Robert was born in Norfolk, Virginia, October 31, 1951. In 1969 Robert graduated with Lake Taylor High School's first graduating class and attended Old Dominion College from 1973 to 1975. His mother and father Joyce Morgan and John Daniel Downing, preceded Robert in death.

In 1977 Robert moved to Middleburg, Virginia working as a carpenter specializing in Historical restorations. He was owner of Robert Downing, LLC; he was a master carpenter and a Class-A Contractor.

Robert was full of wisdom and humor, and possessed a unique kindness. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Middleburg United Methodist Church.
