Gala to Benefit Local & Global Nature Conservation
When old friends, new friends, and leading organizations work together to create support for environmental stewardship, exciting things happen like The Gala at Locust Hill Farm, planned for June 6th.
The event will benefit the WILD Foundation, the Piedmont Environmental Council and EARTH University. Three organizations working tirelessly to preserve our lands and environment, around the Piedmont, around the globe.
This year's EARTH week continued to send the message that 'conservation is a global issue.' The WILD Foundation, dedicated since 1974 to wilderness conservation, understands very well that global nature conservation succeeds through excellent local environmental stewardship, and the committed leadership of strong local organizations and the people who support them.
The PEC safeguards our landscapes, communities, and heritage around the Piedmont. EARTH University provides scholarships to students, empowering them to become environmental leaders.
Mrs. Magalen O. Bryant and Mr. and Mrs. William M. Backer are Honorary Co-Chairs for the event. The evening will honor the memory of Eve Fout for her lifelong contributions to the land she so loved. A substantial tree will be planted at Glenwood Park in Eve's memory.
Master of ceremonies for the gala will be Steve Lamb of Adara.
Thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Jacqueline Mars who wants, "…her friends to have a good time at this event remembering Eve and protecting our land and environment," black-tie attired dinner guests will dance the night away to the Sid Miller Band. The band recently played at Tina Fey's wedding and has performed with Gladys Knight, Alicia Keys, The Temptations to name just a few. They also played at the R&B Foundation awards VIP party honoring such greats as Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Patti Labelle and Berry Gordy.
