Local Sculptor Supports Mosby Heritage Area
Diana Reuter-Twining, a local sculptor, will donate a portion of each sale at her new Middleburg exhibition and directly from her studio to the Mosby Heritage Area Association (MHAA).
The new exhibit is located at 109 W. Washington Street in the historic town of Middleburg.
"I realize that our current economic situation poses an additional hardship on nonprofit organizations, which do so much to promote our way of life and help protect our open space. I wanted to do something to show my support and to perhaps motivate others to do the same," Reuter-Twining said.
"MHAA works hard to educate children and adults alike about getting involved in community affairs, the environment, and preservation, all of which is vital to affecting a positive outcome in the preservation of what is dear to us all--for those who live here and those who visit."
Marc Leepson, MHAA's President, said he was very encouraged by the commitment from Mrs. Reuter-Twining.
"This is a tough financial environment for nonprofit organizations such as Mosby Heritage that rely on individual donors for primary support," he said. "Having a businesswoman of Diana's reputation offer an innovative means of support means a great deal to us. We fully expect it will provide a funding stream that hasn't been available in the past."
"We all need to share in helping nonprofits survive in this tough economic environment," Mrs. Reuter-Twining said. "I'm supporting MHAA because I want to show my appreciation for what the organization has meant to our area. I hope other merchants will find this idea appealing and offer support to their favorite local nonprofit."
