MacMahon Commits to Washington College
Loudoun Valley's point guard, Drew MacMahon, has committed to play basketball next year at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland.
MacMahon, a 6-foot senior, was selected All-Cedar Run District was Loudoun Valley's team captain and MVP, won the Triple A All Academic Award and led the Northwest Region in assists.
Here is what Valley Coach Chad Dawson had to say about MacMahon's commitment:
"Although he was selected to the All-Cedar Run District Team, we as coaches felt like Drew was our Team Viking MVP because he was so adept at getting others involved with our offense. He led us in an extremely competitive Cedar Run district the past two seasons. Drew has the ability to control the cage with his passing (averaging over 6 assist a game) and he plays sound fundamental defense. When we were really successful, Drew was delivering great assists – during our 12 wins in 14 or 15 games in the middle of the season he was averaging over 9 assists per game.
Often he would guard the other team's best offensive player. I expect that Drew would be able to help Washington College immediately with his basketball attributes and he performs well in the classroom. I look forward to following him there. He will certainly be missed as the point guard position is generally the hardest position to play. We wish him the best."
Washington College plays in the Centennial Conference which includes some of the best DIII schools the Country, such as Gettysburg, Franklin and Marshall, Ursinus, and Dickinson.
