Windy Hill: Lead Green

· From pages 4 of the print edition

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Environmental Protection Agency have awarded Middleburg's Windy Hill Foundation a 2009 Regional Energy Star Award for Excellence.

The Foundation's Levis Hill House, the first certified green apartment building in Loudoun County, was recognized for its extraordinary energy efficiency.

According to Windy Hill Development Company President, Kim Hart, electricity bills for one-bedroom units in the facility run less than $75 per month, even though the apartments are all electrically heated and cooled, and have electric hot water heaters and appliances.
