In response to a question by Vice Mayor Kirk on the town's insurance options covering legal costs incurred during the more-than-a-decade-long adjudication of a series of zoning, land use, and other issues between the Town and the Colandrea family, Town Administrator Semmes reported, happily, that the Town had land-use insurance coverage through the Virginia Municipal League (VML).

Semmes said that she had contacted the League to determine precisely the Town's coverage and exposure, and discovered that the town had been covered for land use issues since 2000.

Several of the Colandrea cases, she noted, occurred after that date and VML she said, was in the process of determining whether the Town was covered by VML for those cases.

A closed session to discuss legal matters was held immediately following the regular August session of Town Council.
