Asked by Vice Mayor Darlene Kirk whether Salamander had resumed construction on the long-delayed Salamander Inn and Spa on the north edge of Middleburg, Town Administrator Semmes reported that, to the best of her knowledge, they had not. Mayor Davis confirmed reports that the Inn's partially completed structures had experienced what she termed "major leaks" and that work would begin to replace "defective windows" at "any time."

Semmes told Council that Salamander was still talking about resuming construction before the end of the year. Reports, unconfirmed at press time, anticipate a possible Spring, 2013, opening.
