Weapons
On October 27, Town Clerk Rhonda North informed Council that the Town had received an e-mail from a local citizen "alerting it to an amendment to the State Code that affected the Town Code chapter pertaining to weapons." Once Town Staff starting working on the necessary revision to the Town Code, she noted, the "decided to look at what other State Code amendments may have affected it. In the end, staff proposed what North described as "essentially a total re-write of the weapons ordinance."
Drafted by North and reviewed by Chief Klugh and Town Attorney Liz Whiting, the ordinance simply updates local law to conform with state regulations affecting, among other things, bows and arrows and what are now termed "pneumatic" guns (such as paint ball guns). If you're thinking of staging a bow and arrow vs air gun fight on main street, don't.
