Middleburg Baptist Church recently welcomed the Rev. Dr. J. Travis Moger its new pastor.

Prior to coming to Middleburg, he served as a Navy chaplain with the rank of Commander and taught history and ethics at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.

Still a chaplain in the Navy Reserve, Moger holds a B.A. in religion from Dallas Baptist University in TX, an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, and a Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

He was a Fulbright Scholar at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He also did a combat tour with infantry Marines in Iraq. Previously he has been pastor of churches in North Carolina, Florida, and California.

A native of Ocala, FL, Moger says he's from "the other horse country" and feels right at home in Middleburg where he now lives with his wife Amelia and their four children: Natalie (20), Nadine (16), Madeline (15), and Mark (12).
